History

Polskie Zakłady Elektryczne Brown Boveri S.A. (Polish Electric Factory Brown Boveri S.A.) was established in 1921.

The production of three-phase motors, transformers, generators cooperating with, among others, with diesel engines, and later the first tram motors in Poland.

The plant began production in 1923 - the first 14 machines left the factory then.

The following years brought an increase in production volume: 1924 - 90 pieces, 1925 - 216 pieces.

It was a period of extremely dynamic development of the company. During the global economic crisis, due to lack of profitability in 1931, the plant was closed for two years.

The re-launch of the plant under the changed name Zakłady Elektromechaniczne Rohn-Zieliński S.A.licencja Brown Boveri (Electromechanical Factory Rohn-Zieliński S.A. the license of Brown Boveri), took place in 1933.

The main recipients of the products of the then factory in Żychlin were the paper, textile, chemical and mining industries, as well as the maritime industry - primarily the navy. The peak achievement in this field was the main engine for the Polish submarine ORP Sęp.

A few years before the outbreak of World War II, the factory in Żychlin won a tender for the supply of transformers for the Mościce - Starachowice section, the first Rożnów - Warsaw high-voltage line in Poland.

After the war, the Rohn-Zieliński factory was nationalized as a result of nationalization, the company was dissolved, and the plant was named Zakłady Wytwórcze Maszyn Elektrycznych i Transformatorów M-1 (M-1 Electrical Machinery and Transformers Manufacturing Plant). Production resumed on March 15, 1945. The plant still remained the most important manufacturer of electric motors and transformers in the country. In the first post-war years, the plant gathered an excellent team of specialists in the design and technology of electrical machines and transformers, which later provided a base for the developing electrical engineering and electromechanical industry as well as science.

In 1967, the plant was named Zakłady Wytwórcze Maszyn Elektrycznych i Transformatorów EMIT (Electrical Machines and Transformers Manufacturing Plant). In the same year, part of the transformer production and technical staff is transferred to the newly established ELTA transformer factory in Łódź.

As a result of the privatization process in 1997, Elektrim S.A. became the owner of over 70% of the company's shares. In Warsaw in the same year, Elektrim decides to establish the Elektrim-Motor capital group on the basis of domestic factories producing electric motors, which, in addition to EMIT, includes Besel, Indukta and Celma. As a manufacturer of electrical rotating machines and medium - and high-power transformers, the company continues to maintain its stable position on the changing investment market, adapting the quality of workmanship, production technology and management to European standards. The effect of the quality policy was to grant the company the ISO9001 quality assurance system certificate in 1997.

In 2001, as a result of organizational and ownership transformations, the following entities were separated from EMIT:
a transformer production plant, a power and mechanical plant and a tool plant.

The company adopts the name - Zakład Maszyn Elektrycznych EMIT S.A. in Żychlin. In 2002, based on production companies and the export sales office of Cantoni Motor S.A. The Cantoni Group is established in Warsaw - the largest manufacturer and supplier of electric engines and drives in Poland.

EMIT is constantly developing. In 2022, a newly built Research and Development Center was put into operation, thanks to which we offer services related to testing electric motors of domestic and other manufacturers. It is one of the most modern stations of this type equipped with a renewable energy system.

EMIT has over 100 years of history - you can find a whole series about the history of our company in our social media.
